| It's been almost 5 months since I've wrote on my xanga. Not like anyone reads it anyways.
Ben left on his bicycle trip back to California on Wednesday (4-15). He's been updating on xanga, so it's been fun reading about his adventure.
As for me. I am one quarter closer to starting the nursing program at SCC. I am currently taking Anatomy, Patient & Care Services (online), and First Aid (online). Online classes are so crazy. I have been taking them for about a year, and after each quarter, I keep saying I'm not going to take another, but then I do anyways. It takes a lot of self discipline and organization (I have both, so it's all good), but it takes up A LOT of time.
I was on the Dean's List for last quarter. That made me happy. In order to be on the Dean's List, you have to have a 3.5 GPA or higher. I am hoping to get on the Dean's List for this quarter too, so must keep up w/ the good homework & studying.

| My kitten that I have been bottle feeding and decided to call my own has probably came down with pneumonia. The kitten's name is "Baby Kitty". This kitten is so adorable and it's so sad to listen to it breathe. It breaks my heart. I have never liked to watch people suffer with pneumonia because listening to their lungs just makes me want to cry and they seem to miserable. This is how I feel about this kitten. I just want to stay up all night with it to make sure it's okay. Pneumonia can be deadly, and I don't want this little kitten to leave because over the past week I have bonded with it so much ..even if it scratches me!
What is this? ...the cat hater is becoming a cat lover ...YIKES!

| Tonight as been one of the most scariest, yet interesting nights at work. I worked on the West Wing tonight, mind you its only 2nd time working on the West Wing, and its semi new to me, but I managed to handle the two halls by myself for 2 hours today. Anyways...tonight, I experienced a scare and another experience of my heart being warm.
The Scare. I went to a resident's room whose bathroom call light was going off, so I went in the bathroom to help this resident out. We were talking, holding a conversation, not thinking much about anything else. All of the sudden, this resident stops talking, her head drops, she begins drooling some, she's completely LIMP, and her eyes wide open. I know she was breathing because I could see her chest going up and down; however, her feet looked purple. I was SCARED. Very nervous and scared. I got on my walkie talkie ..trying to call for the other aides on the hall, finally I got a hold of one aide. Once she got to the bathroom, I told her what had been going on for about 5 minutes (or maybe it wasn't even that long ....it just seemed like forever because I was so shook up). Anyways, she called the charge nurse over the intercom, and she came to help us out. The resident was completely limp, and we had to get her off the toilet ...completely body weight, no help at all. It scared me so much. Finally, when we got the resident to bed, the charge nurse worked on talking to her ..and finally had the resident answering our questions, and after about 5 minutes, she was completely back to herself, full of smiles and laughing. That was my scare for the night. I have never had that happen to me, and I was just so scared about what was happening. I did not want to leave her by herself because I figured she might fall off the toilet or something, so I am very thankful for walkie talkies. And I am also thankful that the resident is okay. I learn from experience.
My heart warming experience. Tonight I went to a resident's room because her call light was on, so I answered it, she wanted me to help pull her blankets down her bed. Then she told me to sit down in her recliner, so I did. We talked about so much, and it was so great to talk to her. She said that girls normally come in, answer her call light, help her out, and leave. Yes, tha does happen because we're always rushed and what not, but tonight was not like that ...we were pretty much done for the night at 8:45ish or so. Anyways, so I was able to relax in her room for about 45 minutes, hehe. This resident is so kind, cute, and loveable. However, I am sad because she will be going back home in a few days, BUT that's also very good because she has been healed and she has her strength back, so I am also happy at the same time, but I'm sad taht she will be leaving us. We talked a lot about Jesus being the healer and provider, about her playing the piano and organ, how she had no kids, but she called her nieces and nephews her children, and how she was the only girl out of 4 brothers (just like me). It was so refreshing to talk to her and get to know her. I could not tell you how many times she thanked me for sitting down and talking to her. I really wish I could do that more often with my residents because they all mean so much to me. So, anyways, this just made my heart feel so warm inside because I made this resident feel like she was important (which she is ..just like everyone else I take care of).
I love my job so much!! It may be stressful at times, but at the end of the night, you feel so happy inside, and tell yourself that its worth it every second because you've just helped out a person who was once able to help themselves, but now they need someone to care for them, whether its taking them to the bathroom, cleaning their teeth, assisting them with meals, or just talking to them because they may be lonely. So, now its my turn to give back to them because the residents have done so much in their lives, now its time for me to give it back to them because they deserve it so much!!!

| Well, hello from Nebraska. I've been back for a long time, but anyways. I am working at a different nursing home now ..Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. I would have to say its just a wee bigger than Lakeview, so I've pretty much have all of the residents names down. I am also going to school at SCC in Beatrice now for Nursing - LPN. I am taking Sociology, Math for Dummies (haha), and Microbiology. Classes are going well, and keeping me busy.
What's new?! Well, gas is now down to $3.07 ....I haven't seen that in awhile!

| So, Ben told me how I only need to write a xanga entry and it will
automatically be on my facebook notes; however, about 4 or 5 months
ago, I changed some things on my xanga, so now it says it can't post my
entries from my xanga. Anywho, this is pointless to talk about right
now because most of you are probably lost right now in my rambling
words. It's okay, I am too. Moving on...
Peaches Peaches Peaches! I love the smell of peaches! Today Zach and I
went to his grandma's house, and as we were going through her garage I
could smell peaches and mentioned that I could smell them, then I saw
some sitting in the garage, not really thinking about it, but mentioned
to Zach how they smelled so good! As we were leaving, Zach's grandma
told us to take some peaches home. So, I thought she meant the ones
sitting in her garage, and Zach was like "okay, we'll take some..", but
we kept walking, so I was really confused. But then he walked towards a
tree, and OH MY GOODNESS ...A PEACH TREE! This got me rather excited
because I love fresh peaches so much, and I have never seen a REAL
PEACH TREE BEFORE!! So, we picked some peaches. Whenever I pick fresh
fruit and vegetables I always feel like a little kid. Because I
remember picking fresh green beans at my Kroese cousins house, and I
remember munching on fresh green beans on the way home from Firth, they
are great memories. And I also remember going to Roca Berry Farms and
picking fresh strawberries, and getting red stains on my hands, but the
strawberries were oh so sweet! Oh, and how could anyone forget one of
most every child's favorite tree ...The Malberry Tree! When we lived at
the other place in Endicott, we had a Malberry tree right behind the
house. Hmm. What else! Oh, my first experience of picking cherries was
at the Schlakes house when I was little and when I would always stay
the night at the Schlake's house; however, they no longer have that
cherry tree. Oh, and apple trees, my parents actually had an apple tree
at the house they are at now, and I would sometimes pick and eat the
apples from that lovely tree, but it is now gone. When we moved to the
house that we are in now, we had a pear tree for a little while, until
it got hit by a crazy storm. I never did pick a pear off of that pear
tree though. Hopefully this entry has brought back some memories to
some of you, especially my cousins because I know much you guys loved
working in the garden when younger (especially pulling weeds, hahaha,
*note :: sarcasm*
So, the next time you go out and pick something, remember to cherish
the memories and think how amazing it is to pick a piece of
fruit/vegetable that God has created for us! | | |
